The Closing Workshop “Sustainable Textiles: Lesson Learn & Success of pilot implementation” Under GIZ Pilot Project on “Advancing Closed-Loop Recycling – Textile Waste Improvement Programme for Circularity (WIP4C)” 

Date and Location: 07/Aug, at CGTI, Phnom Penh, Cambodia 

 

Introduction on the pilot:

GIZ FABRIC and its partners jointly worked together to establish a Pilot Project to improve the waste disposal situation, divert textile waste for recycling, and avoid burning and landfilling in order to reduce environmental impacts in Cambodia. The goal was to demonstrate mutually beneficial business models for factories and recyclers, as well as improve local economic conditions and recycling infrastructure.

 

Purpose of the Workshop:

  • Share the key findings of the final visits
  • Share the best practices from 3 factories on specific progress achieved
  • Listen to the testimonials from brands about the engagement and impress of pilot
  • Listen the testimony from Recycler* Shun Wei* about the outcome of the programme and perspective
  • Overall recommendation and Next Steps
  • A recognition of their efforts from GIZ Fabric/TAFTAC and Sevea have awarded certificates to all the factories
