Climate Action Training to help reduce emissions
The Climate Action Training is designed to help brands and manufacturers to start their decarbonization journey. The training was jointly developed by GIZ FABRIC, the Fashion Industry Charter of Climate Action and selected brands and manufacturers to provide foundational knowledge on the relevance of decarbonization efforts, on how to account for operational greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and how to implement concrete solutions in cutting greenhouse gas emissions.
It can support to meet the goals of the Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action. As an introductory training, it aims to enable suppliers to get started to achieve the 45% reduction target by 2030 and net zero emissions by 2050. It is targeted at top management and technical mid-management of Tier 1 & 2 suppliers in the textile, garment and footwear sector.
The online training offers two different formats: A self-paced and a tutor-guided training with a total of 5 modules. The modules teach you how to minimize climate risks and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in your business operations. The five modules of the training are:
- Why climate action,
- GHG Emissions,
- GHG Accounting,
- Target Setting,
- Solutions: Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.
After concluding all models, a final exam can be taken, and a certificate is issued upon completion. For the tutor-guided courses, many local organizations and consultants from various countries as well as ZDHC affiliated trainers were trained on Climate Action Training. The list of all trainers can be found on the UNFCCC website.
The Climate Action Training is free of charge and available on the German development cooperation platform www.atingi.org and is available in English, Mandarin, Khmer, Bengali, Vietnamese, Italian and Turkish. By mid of 2023, already more than 11,000 learners have enrolled in the Climate Action Training.
Self-learning program on Climate Action with Energy Efficiency focus for fashion manufacturers in Vietnam
This series of self-learning workshops and their supportive documents were extracted from “The Climate Action Training with Energy Efficiency focus for fashion manufacturers in Vietnam” (CAT EE) which was delivered under the Initiative for Global Solidarity (IGS) from May 2022 to June 2023. IGS is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
