Textile Industry Sustainability Forum (TISF)

On 20 July 2023, in Islamabad, GIZ TextILES Pakistan* is organising Textile Industry Sustainability Forum (TISF) which is a multistakeholder dialogue platform. It was inaugurated in 2014 based on a vision to establish a platform for cooperation and joint actions of the diverse set of involved stakeholders from the private and public sector.

The vision of the Textile Industry Sustainability Forum is, to foster active cooperation between and within public and private sector actors to promote social, economic and environmental Sustainability of production in the textile and fashion industry and sustain the economic growth through sustainable textiles.

The aim of the event is to resume this dialogue forum on sustainable textiles to enable all the stakeholders to take joint initiatives that contributes to the sustainable economic development in areas of:

  • Promoting Sustainable and Responsible business practices (supporting Ministry of Commerce to achieve textile policy measures),
  • Support to GSP plus processes (Strengthen existing reporting mechanisms, capacity development of state institutions on reporting mechanism,
  • Provincial Prevention Strategy (a guiding document/strategy to improve Occupational Safety & health conditions.

Apart from Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Climate Change, Punjab Labor Welfare, Labor & Human Resource Department Punjab and Environment Protection Department Punjab, we are expecting participants from textile industry, textile and trade associations, academia and experts from across Pakistan.

*GIZ’s Labour & Environmental Standards in Textile Industry (TextILES) is committed to providing technical support to the Ministry of Commerce (MoC), as the major executing political partner of the TextILES project, at the federal level, along with the Labour & Human Resource Department, Punjab, Environmental Protection Department (EPD), Punjab, the textile industry, and workers’ representatives. The aim of the project is to develop joint approaches among public and private sector stakeholders to synergize the economic, ecological and social dimension of sustainability in the production of the textile and fashion industry.
