Mitigating Forced Labor Risk among Migrant Workers in Apparel Production

At a time when awareness is higher than ever about forced labor risks faced by foreign migrant workers, some apparel brands and their suppliers are beginning to reform their practices to ensure that workers do not face the risk of debt bondage, deception in the recruitment process, retention of identity documents, and other forced labor indicators. This presentation will focus on the risks workers face, what companies can do to improve conditions, and context around recent efforts to address and mitigate forced labor risks, specifically among migrant workers in Malaysia.
