Collectively Building Sustainable and Resilient Global Value Chains

Co-organized with: Center for Responsible Business (CBR)

Addressing challenges in global supply/value chains has emerged as a priority discussion point for trade and economic partners, especially post the COVID-19 pandemic. The discourse and emerging actions/initiatives have been further shaped by geopolitical developments and conflicts in various parts of the world. National and international policy and related processes have picked up these leads.

Some of these and related recent developments have considerable implications on India and other emerging economies. For example, the upcoming EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive will shape the “conditions” of trade and commercial activities between EU and India (like all other partners of the EU). Further, India finds a prominent position in both the Indo-Pacific Economic framework for Prosperity (IPEF) and the Joint Declaration on Global Supply Chains – initiatives facilitated by the US Government in the last couple of months. Sustainability and resilience are key parameters of both these economic cooperation initiatives.

In order to achieve the common goals around sustainability and resilience, it is critical that there is a balanced dialogue and well-informed understanding of the realities and context among all collaborating partners. Evidence from the ground is brought to the notice of national, regional and international audience and decision-influencers.
