Sourcing from Myanmar: A dialogue about available options

by GIZ FABRIC created 2022-08-10T07:46:59+07:00

In February 2021, the Myanmar military launched a coup against the civilian government. Since then, fashion brands sourcing from the country have had to weigh up whether to continue buying from factories or to withdraw. What is the right thing to do?

Some brands – such as M&S, Primark, C&A and Tesco – have either stopped sourcing or announced their intention to do so. However, there are about 80 brands buying clothing from Myanmar, the majority of which – including H&M, Bestseller, Adidas and Zara – have until now said they have no immediate plans to stop.

In our 12th online seminar, hosted by GIZ Fabric, two  experts will discuss what options are still open to brands sourcing from Myanmar.
