During this webinar, WageIndicator and the Centre for Labour Research present and discuss the Islamic Labour Code, an open-access project that provides insights into Islam’s view on the labour rights of workers.

Its creators Iftikhar Ahmad and Asghar Jameel will be having a conversation with WageIndicator's Dirk Dragstra on the Islamic Labour Code itself and how the Code shows that the Quran and Sunnah do protect and promote labour rights.

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE ISLAMIC LABOUR CODE

Most of the 800 million Muslim workers across the world are living and working in one of the 57 Muslim countries. Yet, while the constitutions in these countries refer to Islam and Islamic principles, the state of labour rights is discouraging. The Islamic Labour Code can therefore be used by governments to reform their laws and by progressive enterprises to give workers their due rights in the light of Islamic teachings.
