Stopping deforestation is one of the most critical responses to Climate Change and biodiversity loss. In the past weeks, focus has been given to the urgency for the industry to address deforestation in the leather supply chain. The EU’s Proposal for a regulation on deforestation-free products and STAND.earth’s publication of “Nowhere to Hide: How the Fashion Industry is linked to Amazon Rainforest Destruction” report and other media publications, are pressuring the industry to take responsibility and highlight the importance for brands and suppliers of the leather supply chain to actively engage in mapping their leather supply chains down to all the farm levels.
