To support the work of the European Commission, the Make the Label Count campaign is advocating for the introduction of labelling that provides the bigger picture of a garment’s lifecycle – factoring in the benefits of using renewable and biodegradable fibres, as well as the adverse impacts of microplastic pollution and the full environmental footprint of fossil fuel fibres.

About the Campaign:
Textiles are a priority sector in the EU’s plans to shift to a climate-neutral, circular economy, where products are designed to be more durable, reusable, repairable, recyclable, and energy-efficient.

As part of these efforts, the European Commission is planning to introduce new sustainability labelling for clothing. This aims to empower consumers when making purchasing decisions and positively influence the drive for a sustainable economy. But what if the labelling system being proposed doesn’t account for key environmental impacts?

The campaign launch event will take place on the 13 October between 11:00 and 13:00. It will include an expert panel discussion with policymakers, industry, and consumer representatives. The event will be held virtually, but will also include an invitation-only, in-person setting. Registration for the virtual event can be completed below. Further details on the agenda will be published shortly.

We hope you can join us on 13 October at 11:00 CET! Register here.
