This brief, co-authored by the ILO and Better Work, aims to raise awareness of the gendered reality of COVID-19 and to outline some of the ways in which the pandemic impacts women and men workers in the garment sector in the short, medium and long terms.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the global garment sector and has been felt in every part of the supply chain. Myanmar’s garment sector, a major contributor to jobs and livelihoods for the country, has been no exception, and during 2020, faced significant challenges to respond and recover from the pandemic.

We are pleased to share the online CLIMATE ACTION TRAINING FOR THE FASHION INDUSTRY, specifically designed for the diffusion of climate action knowledge for textile, garment and footwear suppliers in Asia. The training is jointly developed by GIZ FABRIC, the UN Fashion Industry Charter of Climate Action and selected brands and manufacturers to provide foundational knowledge on the relevance of decarbonization efforts, on how to account for operational greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and how to implement concrete solutions in cutting greenhouse gas emissions. The Climate Action Training is available in English, Khmer, Vietnamese, Bengali, Mandarin, Turkish and Italian for free on the learning platform www.atingi.org.
