This technical seminar is specifically for manufacturers, brand representatives, and other stakeholders interested in the circular economy, with a specific focus on industrial textile waste and recycling.

The session will include overviews on the circular economy in general and regional waste streams, and presentations from three companies at the forefront of recycling sustainably.

This is an essential dialogue for any company considering how to recycle factory-floor waste. There will be adequate time for Q&A.

SPEAKERS

Burcu Tuncer, Senior Manager and Co-Lead Circular Economy, Adelphi

Burcu has 20 years of experience in developing and implementing sustainable consumption and production (SCP) projects in South and Southeast Asia, Middle East and North Africa. She has engaged with key stakeholders on policy instruments, hot-spot analysis, business model development and capacity building for SCP. She is currently Team Leader of the GIZ GAIN textile waste reduction and revalorisation project at El-Hassan Industrial Estate in Irbid, Jordan.

Rakesh Vazirani, Head of Sustainability, Consumer Products, TÜV Rheinland

Rakesh leads Sustainability Services across 12 countries. He has 15 years of international experience establishing solutions for ‘Product Environmental Compliance’, and ‘Responsible Sourcing’’, and is member of the EU Technical Advisory Board on Environmental Footprint’ and ANSI’s Virtual Technical Advisory Group Member (VTAG).

Oanh Nguyen, HSE and Sustainability Manager, SAITEX Fabric Mills, Vietnam

Oanh handles Health Safety Environment and Sustainability management for the whole Saitex International Group in Viet Nam. She has 17 years’ experience in the garment industry and graduated with a Health Safety Environment Master’s degree.

Andrea Venier, Managing Director, Officina+39, Italy

Andrea studied textile chemistry then joined the family company, Techna Italia. In 2007 he started Officina+39 (a sister company of Techna Italia), focusing on technology and processes for the denim and fashion apparel industry. One of its biggest breakthroughs so far, Recyrom, arrived in 2016. The patented technology uses 100 percent recycled materials to create long-lasting colors with an on-trend washed-out look.

Hasnat Noor Chowdhury, General Manager Business Development, CYCLO® Recycled Cotton, Bangladesh

Hasnat has spent the last four years in leading businesses and collaborating with key stakeholders in improving the context and ground realities of Bangladesh’s sustainability outlook. CYCLO® is his latest professional venture in which he works alongside top textile professionals in developing a unique, circular and sustainable solution for Bangladesh’s existing textile waste management problem.
