The first Bangladesh Circular Economy Summit is just around the corner

For the first time, the Bangladesh Circular Economy Summit is taking place in Dhaka.

Who is behind the event? 
The Bangladesh Circular Economy Summit is organized by the Bangladesh Apparel Exchange in collaboration with the Laudes Foundation. The Summit is run by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GIZ GmbH, Embassy of Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bangladesh and H&M Group.

What is the focus of the summit?
The focus is on the general principles of the circular economy and how they apply to the Bangladesh economy as a whole and to the manufacturing sectors. It will outline the fundamentals that should be in place to ensure that the transition to a circular economy can be made in an equitable manner and avoid potential pitfalls.

What can visitors expect?
The first half of the seminar will use case studies to show how the principles of the circular economy can be applied to different industries such as construction, pharmaceuticals, and electronics, and how their business models can be adapted to global supply chains.

The second half will focus on the apparel and textile industry, taking a closer look at the application of circular economy principles in the textile and apparel industry. Emerging and scaled circular solutions and industry best practices will be explored, and lessons for the apparel industry from other industries will be shared. It will also discuss how manufacturers can best advance the circular economy and what is needed from various stakeholders.

The summit will include an opening plenary, four plenary sessions, three keynote speeches, three presentations, a roundtable and a fireside chat. Find the full agenda here
