Technical Seminar 21: On the landscape of regenerative cotton

Regenerative cotton has emerged as a promising practice to help stakeholders of the fashion industry meet due diligence and environmental requirements when sourcing cotton – one of the most popular materials in the clothing industry, under the background of materials production accounts for approximately 30-40% of the fashion industry’s carbon emissions across the entire supply Chain.

Regenerative cotton, as a long-existing and region-specific farming practice, could answer some challenges the fashion industry faces while conventional practices couldn’t. The challenge here is how to incorporate the local-characterized practice into the fashion industry's supply chain, especially into the existing standards and certifications.

The panel invites industry professionals to reveal how the multiple realities co-existed on the landscape of regenerative cotton and how that shapes the challenges and opportunities, as well as the promising solutions to the challenges of incorporating regenerative cotton farming practice into the current supply chain of the fashion industry.
