Global Labor Dialogue: A Roundtable on Labor Movements in South Asia and in the US
Date: March 28th
Time: 7pm (EDT)
Location: Creative Grounds DC
Building international labor solidarity requires a deep understanding of each others’ movement, and the equal exchange of the challenges, dilemmas and opportunities. Questions such as how to unionize informal workers, deal with the crisis of undemocratic and business unionism, build a radical and militant movement, and secure power and long-term social and political change are shared concerns around the world. A conversation between those engaged with labor movements in both the Global North and Global South around these questions and more serves as a foundation for deepening solidarity and building a united global labor movement.
This roundtable discussion will focus on labor movements in South Asia and the U.S., featuring Garment Campaign organizer Jeeva Muhil, grassroots organizer Sanjiv Pandita, and The Real News Network Editor Maxmillian Alvarez.
