Audit Fatigue, facts, challenges and a call for action

With the more and more stringent requirements raised by due diligence legislation, the fashion industry is under great pressure to keep up with regulatory changes. Yet, the current social compliance practice is plagued by redundant and fragmented audits at very high costs which results in fragile working conditions for suppliers and workers by association. The STAR network released a timely position paper on Audit Fatigue embarking on an effort to work with stakeholders to reduce and eventually eliminate Audit Fatigue.

The panel invites Mr. Karim Shafei – the author of the paper and International Partner at Gherzi, Mr. Miran Ali – Managing Director of Bitopi Group and Vice President of BGMEA, and Dr. Xiaohui Liang – Chief Researcher at China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC) to have a candid and insightful conversation on Audit Fatigue.

The seminar aims to highlight some of the existing solutions and initiatives to reduce audit fatigue and to encourage buyers and retailers to adopt practices that will free up resources to be directed towards improving the well-being of workers, and to show the importance of mutual recognition of audits and collaborations with organizations.
