Training course enhances skills in 3D design software for textile and garment educators
By ILO, December 3rd, 2024
ILO Viet Nam, in collaboration with VITAS and C.S.P Co., Ltd., recently organized a training course to introduce 3D design technology to educators in the textile and garment sector. The program equipped 19 lecturers with skills in using Style3D software, supporting efforts to modernise training and meet industry demands.
From 20th to 24th August, the ILO Country Office for Viet Nam, in collaboration with the Viet Nam Textile and Garment Association (VITAS) and C.S.P Co., Ltd., successfully conducted a basic training course on Style3D design software for vocational education and training (VET) institutions and universities in the northern region of Viet Nam.
The training, attended by 19 educators (4 men and 15 women) from leading textile and garment schools, focused on equipping participants with cutting-edge skills in 3D design. This initiative aims to modernise the industry’s approach to training and align it with the demands of the digital era.
"Using 3D design software like Style3D helps us reduce labour and time in creating samples and models," shared Đinh Mai Hương, a lecturer at Hanoi University of Industry. "It's a transformative tool for the future of fashion design, bridging the gap between innovation and practical application."
The training received widespread praise for its relevance and vision. "Most students currently only have access to 2D design software," noted Bùi Quốc Toản, Deputy Head of Da Nang Vocational College. "Introducing advanced 3D tools will not only enhance their skills but also better prepare them for the workforce. Collaboration between schools and software providers is essential to make these tools accessible."
For educators like Trịnh Thị Thúy of Thanh Hóa Industrial Vocational College, the course underscored the importance of continuous learning. "This training has shown me the vast potential of 3D design technology to revolutionise traditional methods," she said. "While its adoption in schools like ours faces challenges due to limited resources, I hope my students see it as a glimpse into the future of our industry, encouraging them to push boundaries and learn independently."
This training course is part of the joint efforts by the ILO, CSP, and VITAS to modernize and sustain the textile and garment industry, especially in the context of Industry 4.0, which demands continuous improvements in technology, quality, and standards.
The ILO believes that with ongoing cooperation and efforts, Viet Nam's textile and garment industry will continue to thrive, meeting global market challenges and opportunities. Additionally, enhancing the capacity of TVET and other education and training institutions to respond to industry transformation and upgrade needs is a testament to the national partners' commitment to realising the recommendations set out in the sectoral skills strategy developed with support from the ILO Skills project[1] in cooperation with VITAS and other relevant partners.
