Feasibility Study of a Fabric Recycling Unit in Cambodia
GIZ under its program FABRIC has tied up with a group of stakeholders including HKRITA, H&M Foundation, VF Corporation, Dakota, and Chip Mong Insee and subsequently commissioned a feasibility study of a post-industrial Fabric Waste Recycling Pilot Unit (FWRP) in Cambodia. The stakeholder involved represent almost the entire supply chain with VF Corporation taking care of the studies on spinning and on retailing part. The feasibility takes in particular account the The Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA) technology called the Green Machine, which uses a Hydrothermal Separation System to regenerate polyester fibers from blended textile waste.
