adelphi has a strong expertise in the field of textiles, supporting and implementing more than 20 different projects funded by the GIZ, the EU and others in the last four years. Project activities, among other things, focus on providing guidance to national governments – helping them with drafting regulations and guidelines, creating and coordinating communities of interest – bringing together cross-sectoral expertise, as well as providing trainings for local staff and training local trainers – enabling local communities to scale up project benefits.
Exemplary projects in the field of textiles:
GIZ FABRIC - Supporting the regional environment component of the FABRIC initiative
Together with its partners, Reed Consulting, TÜV Rheinland and Espire, adelphi supports the FABRIC initiative in fostering the exchange of knowledge among various stakeholders on sustainable management of resources and the environment. adelphi takes a lead role in collecting existing knowledge available from previous initiatives, transforming it into a suitable format and complementing it with further knowledge input. The collected knowledge is disseminated through replication mechanisms evolving from established regional networks.
GIZ STILE - Supporting Sustainability and the Environment in Bangladesh's Textile and Leather Sector
Together with its partner in Bangladesh, Reed Consulting, adelphi supports the STILE initiative in assessing and addressing the underlying capacity-building needs, initiating reorganisation processes, and moderating a multi-stakeholder dialogue. These activities aim at laying the groundwork for a comprehensive organisational development process for the country’s Department of Environment as well as supporting it in introducing improved environmental regulatory and governance instruments.
GIZ LSP - Support for the Dialogue of Sustainability on Environment Issues in Pakistan's Textile Sector
adelphi, together with its Pakistani partner Espire Consult, supported the GIZ programme in Lahore in the engagement process with selected textile factories on environmental topics. In view of the existing restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, adelphi also guided the GIZ and its local partners in adapting the Dialogue for Sustainability approach using internet-based dialogue formats. As part of the support, the expert team also compiled recommendation for the further adaptation and up-scaling of the approach for environmental topics.
Good Fashion Fund - Supporting Developmental Evaluation for the Good Fashion Fund
As part of a two-year engagement process, experts of GlobalCad and adelphi work together with the team and stakeholders of the Good Fashion Fund to design, pilot and operationalise a monitoring and evaluation framework which is based on the developmental evaluation concept. The tasks of the expert team include the fine-tuning of the underlying Theory of Change (TOC), developing indicators and monitoring mechanisms as well as guiding the Good Fashion Fund, its investees and services providers in the roll-out in the three initial target countries of the fund - Bangladesh, India and Vietnam.
