Monitoring environmental impacts and good chemical management are a pivotal part of contributing to sustainability in the textile and garment sector. GIZ developed the e-REMC, a new e-learning-based blended training approach, to address the needs of textile and garment manufacturers to improve their chemical management and comply with international sustainability standards. The training focuses on the Resource Efficient Management of Chemicals (REMC). It is currently being tested and implemented within the Programme for Improvement of Environmental Performance of Factories (PIE) by GIZ FABRIC in more than 290 factories in Bangladesh, Pakistan and Vietnam. This Technical Seminar wants to focus on the importance of environmental performance for responsible business and how the impact on environment by sustainable management of resources can minimised. Practical experiences from the PIE program will demonstrate the usability of the e-REMC. Speakers from factories, service providers and brands will share their experience of using the e-REMC for the improvement of chemical management.
