Technical Seminar 20: On the complex traceability of leather supply chain

Deforestation has many causes, but cattle rearing is considered one of the most significant drivers. Though it is not the primary reason for cattle farming, the leather industry has an important role to drive positive changes.

Unfortunately, the length of the leather supply chain and the complicated processing steps between raw hide and the finished leather products makes the issues harder to be addressed when it comes to traceability on the farm level.

The invited panelists reveal the complex leather supply chain and the challenges of tracing data on the farm level. The shared insights help the industry stakeholders to understand the situation, the existing collaborations and the collaboration needed to address the issue.
