Event Roundup: The 27th Sino-European CSR Roundtable Forum
The event, themed “ESG and Supply Chain Management ", was moderated by Mr. Yu Zhihong, President and Editor-in-chief of the China Sustainability Tribuneand attracted more than 215,000 participants globally.
Ms. Linda Kromjong, President of amfori, reiterated in her opening remarks that despite the challenges of the pandemic and other issues such as hyperinflation of energy prices, ESG is increasingly being adopted by companies worldwide to monitor, manage and address risks in the global supply chain. amfori is committed to continuously upgrading our tools (amfori BSCI, amfori BEPI and amfori QMI) to support members and stakeholders in effectively managing their ESG performance in their global supply chains.
Mr. Christian Lohoff, Managing Director, ALDI CR-Support Asia Ltd shared ALDI’s ESG journey and outlook and how amfori BSCI is widely used to monitor potential risk in their supply chains. ALDI is a founding member of amfori and a leading global discount supermarket chain.
Prof. June Qian, Associate Dean of Academics at Schwarzman College, Director of the Research Centre for Green Economy and Sustainable Development, Tsinghua University, shared the development of ESG in China and how Chinese producers can better equip themselves to kick start the ESG journey.
Mr Bruno Güemes, Environmental Programme Manager of amfori, highlighted the tools amfori offers to its members to support them in managing responsible sourcing and the continuous improvement of sustainable supply chains. He also gave an introduction on the latest development of amfori BEPI and the pilot of the amfori BEPI & QMI programme in China.
Mr. Max Wong, Associate Director of Corporate Social Responsibility, Esquel, shared the company’s sustainability strategy, achievements and action plans to be carbon neutral by 2050.
The keynote speech was followed by a panel discussion with the participation of Mr. Wang Liansheng, Director of Strategic Cooperation of China Electronics Standardization Association (CESA-CSR), Mr. Christian Lohoff from ALDI, Mr. Max Wong from Esquel and Mr. Li Ping, Senior Manager, Public Affairs Department, Yihai Kerry Arawana Holdings Co., Ltd., in which insights were shared and discussed on how ESG can improve the sustainability of supply chains.
