On 25 March, amfori President Linda Kromjong delivered a presentation at a side session organized by the International Organisation of Employers of the UN 3rd South Asia Forum on Business and Human Rights.

Themed “Collective Action”, Linda joined representatives of industries and experts to discuss and exchange views on business and human rights’ best practices in South Asia and explore practical ways to bring all relevant actors and partners together to ensure that all act jointly to improve and implement the business and human rights agenda.

“Collective action is what amfori about. On behalf of over 2,500 members, we build an ecosystem for responsible supply chain. To achieve this, we have been working with government and stakeholders around the world through collaboration. We can only overcome hurdles of collective action if we start talking to each other, and understand what each other’s strengths are, and leverage those to avoid duplication.” Linda emphasized.

In subsequent discussion, panelists echoed each other that in order to foster business human rights due diligence in the region, it is essential to establish cross-sectoral collaborations and stronger engagement between the public and private sectors to build the trust and raise the awareness at the industrial level, especially stakeholders along the global supply chain about the importance of implementing responsible business conduct, which would be beneficial to all in the long term.
