amfori enters into a new Partnership with UNIDO
amfori’s president Linda Kromjong signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) together with Gerd Mueller, Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation on shared interest areas for driving the #ESG.
The agreement signed at amfori’s office Brussels describes collaboration in two areas:
- Social and environmental due diligence in global value chains (GVC) and
- Impact investing and advancing gender equality in GVCs
“We fully support the move towards mandatory due diligence in Europe, but the effectiveness of this move will require stakeholders to work together in building capacity and awareness amongst the partners of European businesses outside the EU and incentivizing investments in sustainability. This is what amfori’s partnership with UNIDO aims to do”, - said amfori President Linda Kromjong.
The way to collaborate in these two areas will be through advocacy, awareness raising and capacity building vis-à-vis businesses and stakeholders.
