amfori launches Climate Lab
The Launch, which attracted 63 participants, was the first session of the amfori Climate Lab series. It served to raise awareness on the importance of addressing climate change in supply chains, give the participants ‘a taste’ of what the Climate Lab is and discuss the results collected through a prior survey.
The session kickstarted with a setting the scene presentation from amfori President, Linda Kromjong, who stressed the urgency of the climate momentum across the globe and the critical role of companies to achieve international goals. Linda emphasised the need to collaborate and how voluntary schemes, such as amfori, are well placed to support companies’ decarbonisation efforts beyond their own operations.
During the session, participants heard from Kesko Corporation – K Group, who guided the audience through its ambitious climate goals, sustainability strategy and decarbonisation steps. Kesko is included in the most significant sustainability indices and was ranked as the most sustainable company in Europe and third in the word, according to 2022 Dow Jones Sustainability Indices.
After the Q&A, the second part of the session involved a presentation of the main features of the amfori Climate Lab, an interactive discussion to align on key expectations and challenges that its participants wish to address, and an explanation of the next steps.
Next steps
amfori has been in touch with relevant climate partners over the past months and it recently joined the Race to Zero campaign.
The feedback received during the launch session will help identify key partners and resources to include in the 2023 programme of the amfori Climate Lab. The programme will then be shared and discussed with interested members of the amfori Climate Lab.
