amfori BSCI: A Look Back at the Changes in 2024

The highlights of 2024:

  • Audit announcement – amfori stepped away from fully announced audits
  • End of the Grace Period for the amfori BSCI System Revision
  • Capacity Building – 5 social e-Learnings released in 2024

amfori stepped away from fully announced audits

Since September 2024, amfori does no longer accept requests from its member companies for “fully announced” amfori BSCI audits. By removing this type of audit announcement, amfori supports its member to get better visibility and insights into the realities of their supply chains, to reduce the risk of potential reputational damage, and feel encouraged to excel, strive for continuous improvement and implement more effective and positive changes in their ESG due diligence efforts.

End of the grace period for the amfori BSCI System Revision

For one year, amfori members and their suppliers have benefited from a grace period to implement the changes from the amfori BSCI System revision, which took place between 2021 and 2023 and was materialised by an updated amfori BSCI System Manual. This grace period has come to an end on 1 October 2024. One of the key elements of this update was the focus on the continuous efforts that all stakeholders from the supply chains need to make to improve their ESG due diligence journey.

Capacity Building – 5 social e-Learnings in 2024

In 2024, we released 5 major e-learning courses focused on social topics:

  • Introduction to amfori BSCI designed for new amfori members
  • Child Labour Prevention and Remediation tailored for members and business partners to better understand, prevent and remediate child labour
  • The 13 Social Performance Areas aimed at both members and business partners. This e-learning will take you through a virtual business trip in China as an amfori member visiting a supplier manufacturing electronic components to improve your understanding of the amfori BSCI 13 Performance Areas
  • “Gender Equality and Zero Tolerance for Violence and Harassment in the Workplace” to better understand Gender Equality and prevent discrimination, violence and harassment in the workplace. Two versions of this course were developed: one for business partners and another for factory workers. The training for business partners has already been completed by 2 355 learners in less than six months. The training for factory workers is also the first amfori training created for factory workers, empowering them to understand their human rights in relation to this topic.

To sum up, in 2024, we organised 220 trainings on social topics with over 4 000 attendees.
