Better Buying Institute launches “Best in Class” Purchasing Practices E-Learning Course for Brands and Retailers
The Better Buying Institute launches its E-Learning course to help personnel in multiple roles and departments within brands and retailers to understand and embed responsible purchasing practices in their day-to-day work.
The Five Principles of Responsible PurchasingTM course has been co-created with, and is endorsed by a number of Better Buying’s subscribers. It takes a “whole company” approach to purchasing practices and is suitable for everyone in a brand or retailer company, as well as a wide range of associated professionals and groups looking to gain a better understanding of responsible purchasing.
The E-Learning course, which is available in an interactive format and can be accessed from anywhere and at any time, is informed by Better Buying’s expertise in responsible purchasing practices. It includes an informational video that explains what purchasing practices are and how they impact suppliers and workers, while offering Five Principles of Responsible PurchasingTM that can be used to sense check the potential impact of practices including planning and forecasting, design and development, sourcing, payment and terms, and others. It also includes a case study and knowledge checks, which enable participants to recap, and apply what they’ve learned and for companies to track employee completion and scoring.
Dr. Marsha Dickson, President and Co-Founder of Better Buying Institute, comments: “Growing scrutiny by labor activists, journalists, organizations that rank brands and retailers, investors, intergovernmental agencies, and consumers means businesses must begin improving their purchasing practices. But Better BuyingTM means better business too, and increasingly companies recognize the business benefits of having every employee committed to improving their day-to-day practices with suppliers, and placing responsible purchasing at the heart of their business models.”
“Our new course will empower participants to examine existing processes, inspire them to work more effectively with colleagues in other parts of the business, and arm them with a solid understanding of why it’s so important to improve their supplier partnerships so that everyone mutually benefits.”
The Five Principles of Responsible PurchasingTM is part of an initial training offer developed in collaboration with brands and other stakeholders, including Better Work, a partnership between the International Labour Organization and the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
